Learning from experience - governance advocacy in the water and sanitation sector

The first learning document to emerge from the Governance and Transparency Fund (GTF) program is an overview of the work partners have been doing around governance advocacy. It outlines how different tools have been used, describes progress made to date, highlights methods used for learning between partners and draws out some common lessons. This publication will be of practical interest to FAN members, sector stakeholders and peers.

The Peoples' Sanitation Campaign in Pakistan

Honble Chief Minister Amir Haiden Khan Hoti of Khyber-Phuktunkwa province in Pakistan launched the "Sanitation Campaign initiative" at the public meeting in Mardan on the eve of the new year 2012. Amidst the mass meeting organized by FANSA Pakistan, the Chief Minister promised to allocate more funding for water and sanitation improvement and replacement of rusted water supply pipes.

Del 3 al 5 de octubre se realizó en la ciudad de Zaragoza, España, la  Conferencia Internacional sobre Agua y Economía Verde, como preparación de la Conferencia de Naciones Unidas sobre Desarrollo Sostenible, que se celebrará el próximo año, y que también se conoce como Río+20. Esta conferencia, organizada por Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU) como por el Banco Mundial, la OCDE y la Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro (CHE), debatió en torno a varios ejemplos exitosos de proyectos en materia de agua y sobre la manera de gestionar adecuadamente los limitados recursos hídricos del mundo.
