The FAN secretariat is hosted at the London office of international development organisation WaterAid, which also provides project and administrative, financial and legal services to FAN.
Danielle Morley
Executive Secretary
Danielle is a UK qualified solicitor and previously worked as a property and environmental lawyer. She also has an MSc from Imperial College in Environmental Technology (Global) and is a trustee at the Environmental Law Foundation
Danielle worked with Stakeholder Forum at the Second World Water Forum in 2000 and coordinated the multi-stakeholder dialogue sessions at the Bonn International Freshwater Conference in 2001.
Recruited by WaterAid to establish FAN in late 2001, Danielle has facilitated the growth of FAN from inception into the major global CSO network that it is today; overseeing the organisational development and funding of FAN Global as well as its skills, capacity building and global advocacy activities with partners.
Danielle has played a significant coordination role at international water policy events since the UN World Summit on Sustainable Development in 2002, representing NGOs and the key issues for water and development at many different UN and other high level fora and processes.
Mary O'Connell
Advocacy Action and Learning Manager
Mary has a BSc (Hons) Science, Technology and Society from Middlesex. Mary holds a professional qualification from MDF in Training of Trainers and she is also a qualified practitioner in neuro-linguistic programming. Mary joined FAN in June 2011 following 10 years working in advocacy with WaterAid supporting advocacy capacity development with strategic advocacy partners and networks. This included developing a broad range of tools and resources to support civil society engagement in policy development in the water and sanitation sector.
Mary supports the learning and advocacy work of the Governance and Transparency Fund (GTF) and works closely with partners on skills training and research and documentation on the issues of the rights to water and sanitation, water governance, water and climate change.
Isabella Montgomery
Communications Coordinator
Isabella studied Politics and development at the Univerity of Sussex. She joined FAN on a part-time basis in 2009 when she led on the redesign and re-platforming of the FAN website. In March 2011, she became a full-time member of staff as extra resource to support the network's transition to independence. She has worked in communications for a number of years, most recently in the WaterAid Web Team.
Isabella coordinates the development and implementation of a communications strategy and work programme for independence – in close collaboration with FAN Global Governing Council, the rest of the Secretariat and the Global Communications Team, in order to leave a legacy of high quality communications and a strong community for sharing learning and experience across the network post-independence in July 2012.
Stephanie Shillinglaw
Programme Assistant
Stephanie recently joined FAN, having previously worked at ARTICLE 19 and the UK’s Department for International Development (DfID). Stephanie has a degree in International Politics from University of Glasgow and has lived and worked in several countries including Mexico, Germany, the US and Cameroon. Stephanie is passionate about the need to improve civil society influence at every level of international development decision-making.
Stephanie uses her language skills to support FAN’s regional networks as well as the FAN secretariat with all logistics and ensures the FAN database is an effective global tool for the many FAN members to use. She is available for any queries you may have.
