Civil society messages for SWA partnership meeting

In November 2012, a small group of about 15 civil society representatives including ten members from ANEW and FANSA as well as a handful of northern country representatives will be representing the voice of civil society at a Sanitation and Water for All Partnership meeting.

Special Rapporteur country mission reports

In September 2012, Catarina de Albuquerque, Special Rapporteur on the human right to safe drinking water and sanitation, presented 3 country mission reports (to Namibia, Senegal and Uruguay) at the Human Rights Council. She also presented her annual thematic report on Stigma and the realisation of the human rights to water and sanitation. Find out more.

New campaign 'Keep your promises' launch and toolkit

Keep your promises

FANSA, ANEW, FANAS, FANCA and FAN-Mex - together as FAN Global - have developed an international campaign called Keep Your Promises in partnership with End Water Poverty, WSSCC, WASH Advocates, WaterAid and Simavi calling on decision makers to stick to the pledges they have made on sanitation and water.

New CSO representatives elected to SWA Steering Committee

 

Civil Society now has three new representatives responsible for carrying our voices to the SWA Steering Committee, to help shape and guide the future of the partnership. So don’t hesitate to link up with them to share your valuable thoughts and contributions.

STARS Impact Awards

The STARS Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the 2013 STARS Impact Awards recognising outstanding organisations that achieve excellence in the provision of services to disadvantaged children. Organisations working with children in Africa, the Middle East, Asia or Pacific are invited to apply for unrestricted funding awards of $100,000.

FANSA nominates CSO representative into Sanitation and Water for All steering committee

After reviewing the Expressions of Interest received, the selection committee nominated Dibalok Singha as the first representative and Mr Syed Shah Nasir Khisro as the support representative on the Sanitation and Water for All steering committee.

Siddhartha Das joins FANSA as the new regional Coordinator. A management graduate with specialisation in Forestry and Natural Resources, he has been working with UNICEF as the HIV/AIDS Officer in its India Country Office in Delhi for 2 years.

After the closure in August, the FAN Global secretariat is now open for business again.

The overwhelming feeling from civil society on the outcome of the Rio+20 conference was disappointment that the final text was not action oriented and lacked real commitment. That said, there were a number of positive outcomes as well as opportunities for the FAN Global network to take forward.
