Call for civil society input to UN thematic consultation on water

Following a wide consultation, the Beyond2015 drafting team led by Freshwater Action Network, End Water Poverty and WASH United have created a draft of the Beyond2015 civil society position paper for the UN thematic consultation on water. Read the draft and send in your comments by close of business on Thursday 7 February 2013.

 

FANMex coorganizes the National Congress “Citizen and Water Sustainability in Mexico”

On December 7th and 8th the national congress "Citizen and Water Sustainability was held in the Metropolitan Autonomous University in Mexico City, with an assistance of around 420 persons from the academia and the organized civil society. This event was organized by a variety of institutions andorganizations who are aiming to contribute with proposals for the new Water Law to be build after the recognition of the human right to water and sanitation in the Mexican Constitution last February. FANMex has been playing a leading part in the building of this event, both organizing aswell as giving input in the development of the draft document that was the basis for the work during the congress.

The Government of Nepal nominated Lajana Manandhar to the Inter Country Working Group (ICWG)  which was formed to prepare and manage SACOSAN V in Nepal next year. Lajana is the Executive Director of Lumanti and the National Convenor of JalSanjaal that hosts the FANSA chapter in Nepal.

Eight FANSA and ANEW members attended the first ever Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) Partnership Meeting in November which brought together SWA partners including Government, Donors, Research Institutes, Civil Society Organisations to review what has been achieved since the beginning of the partnership in 2010 and decide what future role the partnership should play.

New Sri Lankan chapter agreed at FANSA steering committee

The FANSA Regional Steering Committee meeting for the year 2012 was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 15-17 of October 2012 and hosted by Village Education and Resource Center (VERC), Bangladesh, which is also the hosting organisation of the Bangladesh national chapter. A number important decisions were made in the meeting including the setting up of a new national chapter in Sri Lanka.
