Una mujer preside el Brasil por primera vez

On 31 October, Brazil became one of the few nations with a female head of state.

The President's first speech touched on several issues directly related to FAN and FANAS activities and priorities.

  1. She spoke to parents and highlighted the fact that women can achieve important goals and obtain powerful positions in Brazilian society, including President of the Republic.
  2. She reaffirmed her respect and commitment to human rights, explicitly mentioning the right to housing (including right to water and sanitation); right to food and nutrition. In addition, the mentioned the importance of poverty mitigation and social inclusion programs.
  3. While detailing her foreign policy priorities she emphasized the importance of south to south cooperation - strengthening ties with African countries and tighter Latin American cooperation.

We expect that these commitments will be included in her government program.
