One third of the rural population in Latin America lacks basic sanitation

According to the World Bank, 33% of the rural population in Latin America and the Caribbean doesn’t have basic sanitation services. The reports, covering 19 countries in the region, will be presented on the 3rd Latin American Sanitation Conference LatinoSan 2013.

Thousands of citizens of Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka created a momentous day in the history of the South Asia region to launch regional Sanitation campaign in South Asia. The campaign is calling on all South Asian governments, donors and citizens to join hands to tackle collectively the sanitation challenge in the region by increasing finances, targeting the resources towards poor and excluded people and groups to reduce service gap.

La asociación de comunidades denominada Pueblo Sa Bio A. C.  (significa Pueblo, Saneamiento y Vida) viene realizando un trabajo desde el 2009 en las comunidades de la microcuenca del río San Juan, municipio de Taxco de Alarcón, Guerrero con el objetivo de sanear propiamente el río y mejorar la calidad de vida de sus habitantes y del medio ambiente.

Lajana Manandhar represents civil society in SACOSAN working group

The Government of Nepal nominated Lajana Manandhar to the Inter Country Working Group (ICWG)  which was formed to prepare and manage SACOSAN V in Nepal next year. Lajana is the Executive Director of Lumanti and the National Convenor of JalSanjaal that hosts the FANSA chapter in Nepal.
