Implementing Principle 10 of Rio Declaration - FANCA

 

 

Principle 10 of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development refers to the rights of access to information, participation and justice in environmental matters. Recently was held a workshop on best practices for its implementation, so that they can be replicated in all the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

16.oct.14 It is clear that the long- term solution to climate change lies in weaning the global economy off fossil fuels and onto a cleaner and more sustainable energy pathway in every country. But it is also clear that climate change is already wreaking havoc around the globe and that, in the short term, the world´s poorest and most vulnerable people need urgent support.

Under the World Day Against Fracking (Global Frackdown), organizations of Latin American civil society warn about irreversible impacts that exploitation of unconventional oil through fracking is going to cause in the environment and society.
